District 9

a) In this movie, we found the following topics:

- The alien existence in any other planet.
- The power to accept the differences of others.
- A universal problem such as a war between 2 worlds.
- Shows the point of the human indolence about the alien fraternal links.

b) We choose the topic of the alien existence in any other planet:

Human thought that they were alone in the universe until there started to happen strange things in the earth, which suggested them the alien existence. After that, they wanted to stablish a communication between the both races.

This is very important, because if there were any alien civilization, we could exchange cultural knowledge. Therefore we could evolve, and for example, we could find the cure for some diseases such as the cancer... or we could design some technologic engines too. Maybe with their technologic knowledge, we could find how to repair the ozone layer.

Some bad consecuences could be (as the movie showed) the medic experiments whith the alien individuals. This things happen because of the human ambition, human always try to know everything without regarding the consecuences.

This topic is also related with the respect of the neighbors' dignity. In our whole history, human always thought that they were the only specie that had a soul, so they don't care about the integrity of the other species.

We conclude that maybe we are not alone in the universe. If we find any alien lifeform it could mean a new human age, which could help us with many difficult problems. But the most important thing is to respect other lifeforms, because they have a soul such as he have.

Richard The Lionheart

Richard I of England was the king between 1189-1199. His father was Henry II of England and his mother was Eleanor of Aquitaine.

During his reign, he only visited England two times, and both were the coronation ceremonies. He was about six months in England.

He loved his mother so much, who taught him values and manners, and he didn't know his father, because he left him and his mother. Therefore, he didn't want to marry, because he spent the most of his life in the crusades. Even so, he married Berengaria of Navarre, who loved him so much, and suffered because of his adventures in the crusades. Richard wrote her many letters, were he showed his love... and unconsciously his love for the poetry.

He wasn't a very good king, in fact, he cared more about the crusades and to make justice with the jews and the muslims (both hated the christians), than about political matters. He was born to be a hero, not a king.

Richard loved the arts like the poetry and the epic, because of that, he had an adventurer spirit. His friends and subjects followed him devoutly. He inherited a very passionate and temperamental heart from his parents, but not the political cunning of his father. He was very ambicious but generous, so he didn't conform with little, in fact always worked for more. He wasn't very responsible, because he focused so much in an important thing, so he often forgot some others. He liked to organize, but he wasn't very good for administrate, except for war and crusades... he was an exceptional strategist and an amazing soldier. For all of theese things he deserved his nickname: "Richard The Lionheart".

Richard The Lionheart was an authentic epic knight.

I feel identified with him because he always did what he had to do with courage... and I always wanted to be a crusader knight, glorious and brave. And Richard was a man that cared about the arts and the poetry about his feats and battles. I really want to be like him.

The person from whom I learned more

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 15:28

I think that the person that taught me the most in my life is my mum. Besides she taught me how to walk, to speak, to read, to write... she taught me the most important thing in the life: to any situation or problem, you must be strong and have faith, because you will always get God's help, no matter how, everything can be resolved if you persist... no problem is unsolvable.

There are many important people in my life, but my mother is the person that helped me the most. In my life, she always gave me freedom, but whenever I would be responsible, because she always thought that I should learn how to decide, so when I'm old enought, she let me decide for some things (of course that not everything).

Another thing that she taught me is to be effort, because lazy people eventually will have to work the most, so it's better to be effort in education, job, etc... that when you have to work (in poor conditions) for food.

Therefore, I would like to teach the same to my children in the future.

The environment

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 14:01

In order to help the environment, I would turn off the lights when they were not in use. I could also try not to drop litter in the streets, in fact I would try to clean them. I would help the campaign to stop using spray deodorant, because they seriously damage the ozone layer.

Another very important thing is stop using plastic bags, because people use them in excess, and theese bags take a lot of years to degrade.

Probably the best way to help the environment, is start using renewable energy, such as wind or solar energy. They are not as pollutant as the fossil fuel, because they need a combustion to work, and the atmosphere retains those gases. The smog could be reduced using an electric source instead of fuel, or start riding bikes instead of driving cars.

A very serious event was the oil spill in the coasts of the United States of America, wich killed many animal species, that could be extinct.

I would try to inspect the dams companies, as well as the industries producing pulp, because they are the greatest water pollutants. And the ones that work with C.F.C., because they potentially pollute the air.

Renewable Energy

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 8:46

Of course, renewable energy is a very important topic. Current energy sources are running out, such as petroleum, some metals (copper, iron, gold...) and even water (althought is still considered renewable), because some water is polluted, and hydraulic energy is being used in excess. Fossil fuel is a potencial pollutant too, so, also running out of energy, we are going to live in a polluted world.

There are many clean and renewable energy sources, like: solar energy, geothermic energy, wind energy, and others. These sources, besides give us lasting energy, will help us with another serious problem, the environmental care.

The difficult point in theese situation is that theese energies are not as "powerful" as the fossil fuel, therefore, the gathering machinery used in the extraction is quite expensive. For example, photoelectric cells are very expensive, and if you want a lot of energy (for a building) you will need more than one.

Anyway, as soon as we seriously start using renewable energy, we will get lasting energy and a clean environment.

Alberto Hurtado

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 9:29

Alberto Hurtado was a very supportive man, which doesn't mean that he was a god or something like that. He was a human, like many others, who didn't care of his needs, but the needs of people who didn't have the basic things to live. He gave the most of his life thinking what people need, and working for them, just to give them the basic, so they can work by their own. He founded "Hogar de Cristo", where poor people can eat, sleep, and work to earn their money.

He is important because he showed us that we don't really need all that we have got, he showed us that there are many people living in an awful situation, and we must help them... not giving it all, but teaching them how to earn their own money, and giving them what they need to live.

He taught us a new way of life, althought the most of people doesn't continue his hard work. We should do the same, poor people need chances, because they need education, health and other needs, that can't be satisfied without having the basic needs.

Saint Alberto Hurtado did what we all don't dare... giving what you have for someone who needs.

Extreme Sports

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 14:00

I like extreme sports. I think they are cool, for example: the snowboard, the new sandboard (in sand dunes), mountain climbing, motocross, even parkour. The most I like are which are more difficult, which give you more adrenaline and danger sensation.

Althought I think that they are cool, I wouldn't do that sports for three main reasons: first, I don't have enought money (because the most of them are not very cheap); second, they are dangerous, and I think I'm not ready for them; and third, I'm too young to do them.

Thinking about this, what I really need to do is to train, because one day, I would like to do the cheaper of them (parkour, skateboarding, street stunts). So I will start practising soon, I'm going to learn about jumps and falls (for parkour), and do some skateboarding.

I think that every sport is art, and the extreme sports are the art of feeling the adrenaline, and too much energy, so I really like to begin practising.

Piercings

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 8:12

I don't really like piercings, I think that there are other ways for a good look. There are many accesories such as bracers, necklaces, belts, rings (if you like them), that can make you look good. The piercings damage your skin, they can probably drive your immunologic system to a defensive reaction, which can infest your body.

Piercings also don't look that good, so it's not a worthy risk to take. In fact, when I see people with more than 5 piercings, I look them, and think: "Maybe one or two in their whole body can look good, but theese guys are really exaggerating!"

I always thought that piercings are not for me, when I imagine myself with one of those, I think: "No, theese things don't look good". I have seen some people which look good with piercings, but the truth is that I don't want to use them, they don't call my attention.

"AS SOON AS YOU TRUST YOURSELF, YOU WILL KNOW HOW TO LIVE"

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 16:30

I think that this quote is related to know how to decide. When you are sure about what you are going to do, you can do everything better. On the contrary, if you doubt of your choises, you will soon regret of them and you will feel insecure. When you decide right, you are happy about what you achieved.

Everything is in us, what you have to do is to search your answers... you have them inside yourself. Because of it you have to trust yourself, don't worry about what other ones say, because the most of time, they have answers for their own (I don't want to say that they are wrong about that they say... I just want to mean that they know better about themselves, that than yourself).

This also is a matter of life. What the quote says is true, the life is made of choises. But, good choises are also supported by experience, because your experience builds yourself. When you decide (right or wrong), that choise becomes part of the experience, and you "learn". That learning makes you secure of yourself.

So, choises makes the experience grow. When your experience grow, you learn. When you learn, you do everything better. Doing everything better, makes you feel secure. When you feel secure, you choose better.

It is a spire...

Fixing mistakes

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 6:18

Fixing mistakes I:

Saint Joseph was a very persevering man, he searched for the truth about Maria (Mary). In his dreams, he heard an Angel telling him that God chose Maria (Mary) to carry his son. That makes him a very faithful man, because he belived the Angel. He is called: "The Fair man", because he married Maria (Mary) instead of leaving her.

... Jesus learned many things of his father. Someway he was the chosen one too, in fact, if God didn't chose him, Maria (Mary) could probably die in Herodes' hands. I think Saint Joseph was a very important part of the Nazareth Holy Family.

If I had superpowers

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 17:05

If I had superpowers, I think I would help anybody with them. It would be great to have many superpowers, but if I had to choose, I would maybe choose to fly... If I could fly, I would go to the top of the sky, then I could see anything.

Well... I said that I would help people: I think that I would do the most dangerous and difficult jobs, because I would be the only one who could do them, so I would, perhaps, go to the war and stop it, and with the damaged people to save them, and carry them to a safe place.

Another thing I always wanted to do is to go for a flight over the most beautiful landscapes, I could fly... so why don't do it!, I think I wouldn't have to much time to rest, because there would be many things to do. I would feel responsable about people. Probably to have superpowers carries to have superresponsabilities.

The superpowers are things that I could not enjoy at all, but anyway, I would always have time for a superrest!

My biggest dream

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 5:57

Well... I have many dreams, so I will talk about them all.

One of my biggest dreams is to travel in the space, know more things of it and discover beautiful things on it. Some say that the universe is infinite, so I will spend the most of my time on it. For me, the universe has many things to answer, and many things to show us it's beauty.

Other biggest dream is to work in what I want, and also have time to play in a band. For this, I also want to be a better bassist, and play many different styles in my own music. To be a musician is one of my greatest dreams, but to be a scientist is what I also want to be, so why won't I be both?

In other dreams I see myself living near a waterfall in a beautiful forest, full of nature and with no human destruction. I think I want to have a family in that amazing landscape, so they would be very comfortable there.

As you can see, all of my dreams are very difficult to get, because of it I will work on my dreams. When you dream something, you work on it and you are persistent, you will make it real.

To discover a new frontier...

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 15:40

Someday, someone told me that we all came to the world knowing everything. And the life was made to recover that knowledge. I think that when we are younger (kids or babies), we learn everything very fast, by the same reason.

When we are kids, everything is beautiful, we want to discover and to prove interesting things. We love to play, to jump, and other simple things. Who leads us on the path of the life, shows us the way, and we follow that person, without asking: "why?". We enjoy everything better.

Then, we become teenagers, and begin to come some questions. This is a stage in which we have to find our identity. We start to question every simple thing that we enjoyed previously, and we sometimes feel strange and lost in the life. We don't know what we want, we discover another things to make us feel better (sometimes are bad things, and sometimes are good things). In my case, I discovered the music, and I liked the bass, so I learned to play it.

So in our lives we experiment some changes. This changes open our minds, and help us in our search for the truth and the happiness. Enjoy your stages... nothing is a mistake, a change is just another way to view the world.

Chile's Reconstruction

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 16:28

I think that a really important value is the perseverance. It is the base of everything in our lives, because there are always going to be problems, but to stan up, and start again is the really important thing.

At this time, it was our turn to recieve a huge disaster. But it is also our time to show our courage and perseverance. It gives us a chance to become better (as a country), to make our people feel supported, and to make the young ones help at the damaged zones, which makes them better people too.

Although the previous things, it is a very hard work. It is necesary everyone to help, everyone to buy construction items, and everyone's encourage... and the authorities help too.

In fact... we are all invited to rebuild a part of the damaged zone. Some of us are going to that places, we are very happy to help damaged people and we are sure this is going to be a very teachful experience, and a chance to show that we are trying to become better people too!

The resurrection

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 16:27

The resurrection is a very interesting topic for me... (How to start?) I'm a fervent and faithful beliver.

Jesus Christ died for all of those he loved: the human kind. He sufered for all of our sins, he forgave us... and he gave us a message, in spite of our sins, we will have an eternal life after death.

... This reminds me a very beautiful song of Dream Theater, called "The Spirit Carries On". There is a beautiful phrase in this song, it says: "... I´m not scared anymore, I know that my soul will transcend". I'm not scared about dying, I know that there is a God beyond our lives, I know that he will forgive my sins (if I regret of them)...

Everybody is proving God's existence, but I don´t... I only know that there´s something that makes this universe perfect, I call that thing (it doesn´t sound very pretty) my God. I belive that he sent his son with us... I don´t care of the science (although I like it, confusion!), there is a God, his son resurrected, and I will...

How long on this dark times until we finally live like brothers? I don´t know, but I'm waiting for that day. I think that a powerful reason for the people's faith loss, is the fear of an anti-god society. I also think that people that doesn´t want to see, can´t see, I mean about resurrection: If you don´t belive, you will not resurrect, or you will resurrect as you belived (as the egyptian way, muslim way, budist way, etc...)

To conclude this, I say that the only way to resurrect is the faith.

Getting fined by looting.

0

Posted by Felipe Alday | Posted in | Posted on 15:43

Well... If this was made just for need, then I think it was "right" (because there weren´t any operational supermarkets, and people didn´t have food, drink neither basic things), but what we have here isn´t need, is just getting the chance to steal, and loot, and make disturbance. In fact, people went there with pickup trucks and other vehicles, just to carry expensive things as much as possible.

Thanks god, that people will get fined, because they were very careless, and cameras recorded cars' license numbers, their faces and what they stole. How fools they are!

... And now we just have to trust the police, that they found every stolen thing, and returned all of them too, (just kidding).

Something more, that makes me feel a bit angry... people say that the supermarkets are to blame, because they were not going to open, and to loot is a way to get necesary things... oh! and to excuse theirselves, they say: "it´s not a significant matter, they have very much money, and this will not make them poor" . Well, they are right (pretty much), but to loot is not the way to end with that, it just makes everithing to get worse, and is not a reason to loot! (I wonder myself: "will they be glad if somebody goes to loot their house?, because they looted... so: that person has the same right")

People like them makes this world a big mess...

Saint Joseph

My opinion of Saint Joseph:

Saint Joseph was a very persevering man, he searched for the truth about Maria. In his dreams, he heard an Angel telling him that God chose Maria to carry his son. That makes him a very faithful man, because he belived the Angel. He is called: "The Fair man", because he married Maria instead of leaving her.

But something else call my atention:

He lived in very dark times. The war, the empires, the prophecies... Although there were that problems, he always was a man of peace. He was full of life, and he worked for the peace, because the peace is the most powerful weapon against the war. He always focused on his work and on his son Jesus. Jesus learned many things of his father. Someway he was the chosen one too, in fact, if God didn't chose him, Maria could probably die in Herodes' hands. I think Saint Joseph was a very important part of the Nazareth Holy Family.
